Naming my salon, Locks & Dames, actually begins with my mom.

Locals know the road in front of my salon as Lock & Dam Road, named after the lock and dam on the Verdigris River.

When I was searching for the right name, she simply said,
“Why don’t you use that?”

And in that moment, everything clicked.

Locks is the easy part.

Locks of hair. Extensions. Density. Enhancement. Confidence.
That is the work I do every day.

​

But Dames… that’s where the meaning lives.

​

A dame is not just a woman.
She is a woman who has earned her place.
A woman who has lived, endured, and carried more than most, yet continues to show up with strength and grace.

​

The women who sit in my chair have been through something.
Hair loss. Illness. Surgery. Stress. Divorce. Grief. Aging. Life.

And more often than not, their hair is where it shows.

 

This space was never created out of vanity.
It was created for restoration.

For the woman who has spent years showing up for everyone else…
and is finally ready to come back to herself.

 

So yes, the name is literal.
Locks of hair.

But Dames… that’s who it’s for.

And it couldn’t be a better reflection of the women

who walk through my door every day.
